Home Security Systems

By Ara Rubyan

Once upon a time, security alarm systems were for businesses only. If you owned a business, you put in a security alarm system to keep an eye on your warehouse and offices. In fact, you often had no choice: your insurance company required it in order to get a policy.

Home security systems were owned only by well-to-do individuals who could afford the luxury of this technology.

Over time, as crime rates went up, the average homeowner may have considered installing a home security system, but the high cost of these systems made them think twice. After all, why spend thousands on a system when the cost of replacing your valuables could be done for a fraction of that?

Of course, the cost of these home security systems continued to fall as the technology got smaller, faster and cheaper.

Simultaneously, lots of stories began to surface in the media about people coming to a home intrusion in progress. In addition, many home intruders did not think twice about breaking into a home that was already occupied. This set of circumstances, highlighted something new: the possibility that a homeowner might not just lose their valuables -- they could lose their lives or the lives of their loved ones. The cost of this happening, of course, was much higher than the cost of anything the burglar could steal.

So these are the realities driving the growth of the home security system market:

  1. Rising Crime Rates
  2. More Affordable Home Security Systems
  3. Desire Tto Protect One's Family

This is why I've put together this website. Check out the contents to your left on this page.
